The AcuFin Onboarding Process: What to Expect

From initial enquiry to operational readiness, a practical overview of the onboarding steps every new client should understand.

Starting a relationship with a new corporate service provider can feel opaque, particularly when the work involves international structures, regulated entities, and multi-jurisdictional compliance. AcuFin has designed its onboarding process to remove that uncertainty. Every step is documented, every expectation is set upfront, and every client knows exactly where they stand from day one.

This article walks through what happens after you make first contact, from the initial scoping conversation through to the point where your structure is fully operational and AcuFin is managing your ongoing obligations.

Initial Enquiry and Scoping Call

The process begins with a brief introductory conversation, typically lasting thirty to forty-five minutes. This is not a sales pitch. It is a working session where AcuFin's team seeks to understand your commercial objectives, the jurisdictions involved, the nature of the assets or activities, and any constraints such as timelines, regulatory requirements or investor expectations.

By the end of this call, AcuFin should be able to provide a preliminary assessment of the most appropriate structure, an indicative timeline, and a clear indication of the documents required to proceed. If the engagement is not the right fit, you will be told so directly.

Due Diligence Requirements

AcuFin holds management and trustee licences issued by the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius. This means it is legally obligated to conduct thorough know-your-customer (KYC) checks on all clients before any work commences. This is not a formality. It is a regulatory requirement that AcuFin takes seriously.

You will generally need to provide:

  1. 01

Valid passport copies for all directors, shareholders and beneficial owners

  2. 02

Proof of residential address (utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months)

  3. 03

Source of funds documentation (bank statements, audited accounts, or supporting evidence)

  4. 04

A brief business plan or description of the proposed activity

  5. 05

Corporate documents if the client is an existing entity (certificate of incorporation, memorandum and articles, register of directors and shareholders)

  6. 06

    Completed AcuFin KYC form

AcuFin's compliance team will review the documentation and may request additional information. This process typically takes five to ten working days depending on the complexity of the structure and the responsiveness of the client.

Engagement Letter and Fee Structure

Once due diligence is cleared, AcuFin issues an engagement letter. This document sets out the scope of services, the applicable fees (both one-off setup costs and ongoing annual charges), the billing cycle, and the responsibilities of both parties. There are no hidden charges. If additional work arises during the engagement that falls outside the original scope, it is discussed and agreed before proceeding.

AcuFin's fee model is transparent and predictable. Setup fees are quoted upfront and fixed. Ongoing compliance, administration and trustee fees are billed annually or quarterly depending on the service line. All fees are denominated in the currency relevant to the engagement, typically USD.

Timeline Expectations

Timelines vary depending on the structure and jurisdiction involved. A GBL incorporation typically takes four to six weeks. A trust or foundation can be established in two to four weeks. FSC licence applications generally require three to six months. AcuFin will provide a realistic timeline at the scoping stage and will keep you informed of progress throughout.

The most common cause of delay is incomplete documentation. AcuFin maintains a structured document checklist and will flag missing items promptly to avoid unnecessary hold-ups.

Your Dedicated Relationship Manager

From the moment the engagement begins, you are assigned a dedicated relationship manager. This individual is your single point of contact for all operational, administrative and compliance matters. They know your structure, they understand your business, and they are accountable for ensuring that work is delivered on time and to the required standard.

You will also have direct access to the relevant specialists handling your work, whether that involves tax advisory, compliance, fund administration or corporate governance. AcuFin does not operate a call centre model. Every interaction is with a qualified professional who understands your specific situation.

Communication Channels

AcuFin communicates primarily via email and scheduled calls. Ad hoc requests are handled within one business day. Formal reporting, whether quarterly compliance updates or annual filing reminders, is provided proactively. All client data is held in secure, encrypted systems with strict access controls.

Clients with multi-entity structures or complex reporting requirements receive a customised communication schedule, agreed during onboarding, so there are no surprises and no missed deadlines.

The First 30 Days

The first month of any engagement is typically the most intensive. During this period, AcuFin will complete the incorporation or establishment of your structure, open the necessary bank accounts, prepare the initial compliance documentation, and establish the governance framework required for ongoing operations.

By the end of day thirty, most clients have a fully formed entity with bank accounts in place, initial compliance documentation filed, and a clear understanding of the ongoing obligations that apply to their structure. AcuFin provides a summary at this point confirming what has been completed, what remains outstanding, and what the next steps are.
